    Contribution

    • Sufficient Financial Means: Applicants must demonstrate that they have adequate financial resources to support themselves (and any dependents) during their stay in Spain. As of 2025, the minimum required amount is approximately €27,000 per year for the main applicant, plus an additional €6,750 per year for each dependent. These amounts are based on the IPREM (Public Multiple Effects Income Indicator) and are subject to change.
    • Proof of Financial Means: This can be demonstrated through bank statements, investment certificates, or proof of income such as pensions.
    • Health Insurance: Applicants must have comprehensive private health insurance coverage with a company authorized to operate in Spain.
    • No Criminal Record: Applicants should not have a criminal record in Spain or in their previous countries of residence for offenses under Spanish law.
    • Medical Certificate: A certificate confirming that the applicant does not have any diseases that could pose a threat to public health, as per international health regulations.
    • No Employment: Applicants must commit to not engaging in any work or professional activities in Spain.

    Application Process and Eligibility

    Prepare Documents:

    Valid passport (with at least 1 year left before expiration).

    • Proof of financial means (bank statements, income proof, etc.).
    • Comprehensive private health insurance from a provider authorized in Spain.
    • Medical certificate proving no serious diseases (aligned with international health regulations).
    • Criminal record certificate (issued by authorities in your home country, valid for 3 months).
    • Submit Application to Spanish consulate/embassy in your home country, include completed application forms, recent passport-sized photos, and supporting documents.
    • Pay Fees: Visa application fees (amount varies by nationality).
    • Decision Time: Processing usually takes 1–3 months.
    • Travel to Spain: If approved, you’ll receive a visa valid for 90 days. Travel to Spain within this time and finalize your residency.
    • Register in Spain: Once in Spain, apply for your residency card (TIE - Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) at the local immigration office within 30 days.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • No Work Allowed:
    • You must commit to not engaging in any professional or income-generating activity while in Spain.
    • Health Insurance: Private health insurance from a company operating in Spain.

    • Duration of Stay: You must stay in Spain for at least 183 days/year to maintain your residency status.
